Well we all survived the night on the field with a few coughs and colds but enjoyed ourselves with music provided by the World Youth Day organisers. The mass was amazing we were quite near the front of the field but it was a maze to find anyone amongst the crowds of people. There were people as far as the eye could see!
I previously mentioned in one of my other postings that I had met an Australian girl at the last WYD well I was fortunate enough to meet her on Saturday night and she met some of the group. It was an emotional meeting!
We saw some of the Columbians we had made friends with at Blackbutt on the field and those who went to the last WYD saw some of the friends they had made their from Holland.
Yes the trek to and from the racecourse was a nightmare but we survived and it was a very spiritual experience.
Today some of us are flying home, I am currently at the airport flying to Brisbane and others are parting other ways to see relations. Our spiritual journey continues but not as a group but independently. As Father Dominic said today we are now witnesses to God for the world to see.
Some others from the group will be writing their testimonies over the course of the next few weeks when they return.

Hi to all our English pilgrims and families . Fr Dominic stayed with me here in the Blackbutt Region, city of Newcastle NSW. I am the PP of All Saints Parish and we are going through withdrawal without all the young people who lit up our parishes during WYD08. To all the parents of these youngsters they did you proud. Our own parish young people at WYD are giving witnesses talks next weekend and as we play the Theme hymn Alleluia we will think of you all with affection

Hi Fr. Greg, I was staying in Blackbutt region with Darrin and Lisa Gray. Thank you for all that your parish did, it was an honour to be with you all. I have so many fond memories of Days in the Diocese. I hope you keep wearing the Brentwood Blue hoodie!
Many prayers, Shaun Bailham |
