1. A towel

You may scoff at this particular item but the towel is about the most massively useful thing a young adult pilgrim can have. It has many uses. Apart from the obvious one, drying that is, a towel can be used to keep you warm, clean, and safe from annoying little Australian insects that would very much like to bite you, which brings me on too..

2. Insect repellent

If like me and those pesky little midgets bite you till every last drop of blood is gone then this stuff would come in very handy.

3. Sun cream lotion.

As we are going to Australia this may be very useful to us. Yes we may well be going to Australia in their winter, but their winter could still be quite hot and sunny, particular if you head up north after WYD.

4. A Camera

This may seem like a obvious option but if you do find yourself standing next to the Pope you may want this handy.

5. An English to Australian dictionary

You’d be right in thinking that they do speak English, but as they may have trouble understanding some cockney rhyming slang we may well have some trouble understanding them. Trust me you don’t want to mix your Daks from your Snags. That is trousers and sausages to you and me.

6. Sleeping bag

As we will be spending a night under the stars this is a must. As a pilgrim you are able to get a special WYD themed sleeping bag at a special discount price.

7. Australian SIM card

This can be quite useful and it's easy to get before we head out there. With this handy little thing you would be able phone home on a budget.

8. A book

Well we are spending about a day on 3 planes so a book could come in quite handy, particularly if the in flight movie is not as good as you may have expected.

9. Passport

You don’t want the one to be left at Gatwick airport as you wave us all on to the plane.

10. And finally better take some shrimps for the barbie or maybe a gift for your Host family.
